SERS Substrates

Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS) is a surface-sensitive detection technique based on Raman scattering mechanism that can detect single molecules, bio-active molecules, and biological cells with very low concentrations down to μmol level.

This technique is normally performed using metal substrates with nanostructured surface that greatly enhance the surface area and increase their specific binding towards the adsorbed molecules.

SERS is a fast and non-destructive method of detection that can analyse materials in various forms of solids/ liquids/ gases and fit into versatile applications including forensic, chemistry, soil and environmental sciences, pathology, pharmaceutical, and food industries, fundamental and applied research in universities.

At Flew Solutions we create gold coated copper substrates with nanostructure feature that are stored in various environments (Nitrogen/ Heptane/ Vacuum) to deliver ultrasensitive molecules detection. We can offer customised substrate thickness and different coating layers according to customers’ needs. We also can perform calibration for quantitative analysis of specific molecules as required.

These SERS substrates have been developed in conjunction with Dr. Jurga Juodkazytė from the Center for Physical Sciences and Technology, Vilnius, Lithuania and Prof. Saulius Juodkazis from Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia.
